There is nothing like hurt feeling and sand in your butt-crack to motivate you to give your hard-earned dollars or government transfer payments to someone to get revenge on your behalf.
Just yesterday, my colleague Susan Wright posted on the fundraising effort underway by Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Stein has set up a crowdfunding page to raise money for a recount she says she is going to demand in three states: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
The fundraising quickly met its $2.7 million target and she, just as quickly, raised the goal:
Lawnewz, however, reports the real story is in the fine print.
Wait, wait. She can’t guarantee a recount will actually happen? How can that be?
But wait, as the guy says, there is more. Since she met her goal and raised it, the caveat has changed, too. Note what it reads today:
Note the clever insertion of “to promote voting system reform” into the paragraph. What form to we think this “promotion” might take? Promotion of the Green Party? Funding of a PAC?
This is Democrat party fundraising at its best because ultimately all the Greens are are Democrats with bad personal hygiene who failed economics and history. Stein’s fundraising appeal using a recount that is never going to happen will go down as one of the greatest bait-and-switch scams in political history.
